It appears that the Russians’ Soyuz capsule, which attempted to dock with the ISS, was damaged during its re-entry and was unable to land safely back on Earth. This, as you may imagine, is not a good thing, and Russia, after creating a mess by simply re-entering the capsule on its own without the crew, has been quoted as claiming the problem is that there’s a defect in the American spacesuits, and they can’t be trusted. Technically, it’s not true. There are other space suits made by NASA that are similar to the ones worn by the crew, and the Big Guy explained that these suits could still be used. It should be noted that NASA has already said that these suits are not necessary in this mission. NASA has also confirmed that the Russian capsule currently orbiting the Earth does not need to have a backup crew in the pressure suit as this mission will be using an escape capsule to return to the ISS. Of course, now that NASA has acknowledged that these suits are not needed, there’s not much point in building them.
